Same with my two hedgies. They walk and/or move so quickly, it is hard to get good pictures. Most end up either blurred or I end up getting a side shot because they have moved LOL.

Re:Share Your Cage 10 Months ago
Hooray! Jonathan and I finally got a bigger set up for Pyjama happening. Sooooo....
The smaller box has food, water and his wheel then a tube connecting to a bigger box with his heat pad (first night with it too), hedgie hut on top of heat pad and toys!

Jonathan checking out Pyjama's new digs while Pyjama explores!

Pyjama about to go in the tube for the first time

So far we have fleece liners on the bottom of both halves but I think I maybe want to put carefresh on the food/wheel box as he really only poops/pees while on the wheel, so make for easy clean up just to throw all that away.

What do you think? Anything else we should get him or take away in your opinion?

Hooray the cage was a success last night. He didn't even try to get under the liners like I thought he would. Loves his hedgie hut! Even the paper towel under the wheel worked great, there were two little "cigar ends" in front of the food dish but way too easy to clean up yay!

Re:Share Your Cage 10 Months ago
looks very nice

you might want to add anouther bed area in the far corner (near toys) for a place to sleep if the heating pad makes him too warm. A little blanket, or even one of those 2 or 3-way pvc tubes from hardware stores might be good, as well as it being anouther thing to explore (or if its a blanket, to move around the cage and even try to pull into other areas, and roll up in like a taco! lol).

(and I have the same blue wheel! Or rather, Kozmo does...)

Last night was the first night we turned the heat pad on and he was an active little boy! His food dish is upside down and food everywhere. The layout seems to be working really well, he hasn't pooped on the bedding/play side yet, just poops on the wheel or the paper towel I put under the wheel, fingers crosses he keeps this practice as it is way too easy to keep clean!

He also has another sleeping bag which is off the pad Except I guess I had been using it to snuggle before I took the photos and didn't put it in.

This is a picture that Ben took of our setup. We currently have 6 cages. We hadn't yet put in all of the wheels & nestboxes. Also, we ended up returning the water bottles & getting a different kind, but you get the general idea. We're using the 105 quart Sterilite containers & some shelves we found at Wal-Mart (I think they're Rubbermaid, but I could be wrong). Usually we keep the lids off, but Ben has put holes in the lids & cut out a corner on them, so we can fit them on now when the wheels are in the cages.

Here's a pic of the wheels he made:

It's working out really well so far & the cages & wheels are so easy to clean! We now have name tags on each cage, with pictures of the characters we named our hedgehogs after (most of them are Pokemon) & we've figured out we can write on the cages with a dry-erase marker. That comes in really handy when we're breeding them. It gives us a quick way to know how many babies we have, what gender, color, DOB, earliest wean date, etc.

Our baby boy is in his own cage which is just a Super Pet cage for now and he will get his own C&C cage once he is bigger.

Our adult female has this C&C cage to roam in.

That wheel he didn't make. I am not too happy with that wheel either, so the Hubby will have to make a new one soon. I am not sure as to how to make one myself but I know they have the instructions here http://www.hedgehogworld.com/content/view/128/42/ I hope that helps!!

Thanks for the link but that's a lot of complicated work! I'd much rather spend the money and buy a good, quiet wheel for my hedgie. I'm creative but not that creative!

My hubby made the wheels in my post. They're really nice. The poop doesn't stick to them as bad as it does on the other wheels. If you're interested in one, feel free to send me an email at misty@dormanexotics.com for more info. It's a lot like the cake walk supreme wheel that Reaper on hedgehogcentral sells, but a little cheaper. We also have flying saucers.
