So, I just wanted to get everyone's opinions on this. :>

The hubby and I just bought our first love-hog (she will be 2 in February)from a local breeder here and are absolutely smitten with her. Her name is "Pequop" after a mountain range in Nevada. She is adjusting nicely even after only a week of having her. She is barely balling when we go to pick her up. Enjoying being held and loves her treats! She even lets me kiss her back feeties every morning when I go to do the daily "foot check".

Now, the hubby and I agreed that we would give her the office room (which has no office equipment in it) to roam freely in. It has been completely "hog-proofed". No wires, no spots she could get stuck in (I have kept a close eye to see if she found a place I didn't think of too and so far so good). There are many blankies all over for her to hind/burrow in, amongst tubes and hedgie bags. We have a space heater that is on top of a tall desk to keep her nice and warm all day (as we live in Colorado, winter can be rough). Also, we do have a hedgie cage with some "Carefresh" bedding in it, blankets..etc, for her to climb in if she feels inclined to do so (and if we are ever away on a trip), but she doesn't seem interested in the cage at all. It also doesn't seem that she runs on her bucket wheel (as I don't find any poopoos on it), but I am wondering if that is because she has a lot of space to roam as is...?!?

What are your thoughts on free roaming hedgies?
