Sterilite Bin Cage 8 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I am terribly sorry if this is a repeated thread, but I have searched all over this forum trying to find a really good guide to making a nice sterilite bin cage.

Does anyone have a link etc. To a greta step-by-step guided or something similar?

Thanks!

OR even better, does anyone sell pre-made sterilite bin cages?

Thanks!

Liz

Liz,
I use sterilite 90 quarts cages what are you trying to find out about them? Are you wanting to know how to drill the holes? Or how to hang water bottles? Making a plastic screen tops? Please let us know what your questions are and then we can help you.

Here is a pic of mine. My husband used a dremel to cut the holes for the black plastic tube (which is a gutter extension from Lowes $4) after we traced the ends onto the bins where we wanted. This was too easy. Then he used a drill bit to drill the holes for the water bottle nozzle and metal holder. Again, drilling the sterilte box was real easy. We also used the dremel to make a whole for the heat pad power cord to go through and drilled for ventilation holes down low.

So really the whole design is up to you so there isn't a whole lot of instruction to give. But definitely a drill and a dremel are the way to go! We started with a stanley knife but the plastic is pretty thick and it would be clumsy and take a while.

just anotehr tip when you go to drill on the sterilites... well.. 2 tips... use a hair dryer to warm up the area you want to drill/cut on and when you go to drill holes.. start with a small drill bit and work your way up with the drill bit sizes to make the hole bigger- both will help keep you from cracking the plastic!
