Re:attempting first bath - 2007/12/23 17:15 Tepid on the warm side water, the sink is a great bathtub for a hedgie. I'd recommend starting with a couple of inches of water already in the hedgie tub, gently scoop some of the water over the back of your hedgie, and then add a bit of the soap. An old toothbrush makes a great scrubbrush for the quills. Try to avoid her eyes, though the aveeno baby soap is tearless if it does happen to get in her face. You'll probably need to rinse her off with clean water, as she'll most likely go to the bathroom in the water. A quick rinse under the warmish water and then into a warm towel to be snuggled for at least 30 minutes is great. Hopefully, she'll like the bath and not need any reassurance, but talking quietly and affirmingly about what a good girl she is, etc helps - along with keeping a hand in the water near her, which will help her not panic as much.
Hope all goes well!!!

Re:attempting first bath - 2007/12/26 14:40 well she officially got her first bath about two hours ago. it went well, but she definetly was NOT happy lol. she was trying to climb up my arm the whole time, poor little thing. but she's clean and relitively happy again haha. actually she's about passed out now in her igloo, i think the bath stressed her lol

Re:attempting first bath - 2007/12/28 00:18 she was so cute with it. i was rubbing her belly to clean her and she was just looking at me with these sad eyes like "is it over yet?" when i fininshed up and put her in a towel and held her she just cuddled up and promply went to sleep on me. it wasn't nearly as traumatic as i thought it would be though and she got through it well. she's so adorable i can't stand it haha
