Scared - 2008/02/13 12:19 Hey Ive had my hedgehog sence the begining of December. I give him a bath every time I change out his cage..

How often do I need to bathe him?

Ive had hedgies before but Mr.Jeevas is the first one I've had in a few years. So I'm trying to figure out everything again....

Re:Scared - 2008/02/13 14:25 I'd give him a full bath if he is messy or stinky. That's about once a month for my girl. Miss poopyfoot does need footbaths more often from running on her wheel... just about every morning this past week.

The reasons I don't suggest more often than necessary is that frequent baths can dry out hedgie's skin and most hedgies don't really enjoy baths.

Re:Scared - 2008/02/20 11:38 Haha. Mr. Jeevas is more relaxed then my old hedgies:3 he just trys to get out but thank god he dosnt bite me.
Thanks for the advice though :3
I sorta figured he didnt need one too often but usually he asorbs the smell of his cage before I clean it so he gets a bath.

Re:Scared - 2008/02/24 10:39 Hedgehogs have dry skin, and bathing them often will only increase the dryness. They also don't have and stink glands, so unless they get into something messy I would not bother bathing.
