Yay! Finally toe nail sucess! - 2007/01/31 10:59 So I was FINALLY able to cut Ziggy's toenails! the little bugger, he's such a shy guy (plus he's quilling) there was no way i was getting him to unball to do them. So I tried the put them in a little bit of water approach since ya know they usually don't ball up because then their face is underwater...yeah well Ziggy Stardust never got that memo so of course he dunked his face a few times and came up sputtering which of course scared me half to death! So i gave up. Well I tried again today- he only dunked himself once before he decided that me touching him was the least unpleasant of the two. Now on to the rest of them... 4 hedgie feet down...32 more to go! ~Blessed Be~

Re:Yay! Finally toe nail sucess! - 2007/01/31 17:40 Toenail trimming seems to be my most difficult hedgie chore. I usually am able to trim one or two nails each evening, so by the end of the week they are all evened out. I hate to give my girl a bath when it's been below zero outside- always afraid she'll catch a cold...

Re:Yay! Finally toe nail sucess! - 2007/02/01 09:18 I've had similar experiences - the scariest one was a female hedgie who stayed in a ball, SUNK into the water, and stayed under the water until I was sure I had been mistaken that she was alive to begin with. Of course, when I freaked out, and scooped her out of the water, she uncurled, looked at me and I swear was saying 'what *is* your problem Mom??!!??'
Sigh.
