Chipped Quills? - 2008/04/04 00:25 Yesterday I gave Omelette a bath and I noticed that a few of her quills (very few maybe 5 total) looked chipped. I don't know how else to describe it other than it looks like someone got scissors and cut off the very tips. I haven't noticed anything wrong with her other than that. But I'm just wondering if I should be worried? Is that normal? Lisa

Re:Chipped Quills? - 2008/04/08 20:24 Are they together or scattered? If a hedgehog repeatedly rubs on a surface (such as a too small house entrance, the center bar of a wheel, a tube, etc) it can wear off the tip of the quill

Re:Chipped Quills? - 2008/04/09 00:47 Well they're not scattered per se. They are mostly around her head. So I guess they could've gotten worn down from too much tubing. It just seems so odd that it's only a few of them. Lisa

Re:Chipped Quills? - 2008/04/09 00:52 And chance she was playing with your guinea pig? Maybe piggie nibbled on them? I've seen hedgehogs nibble on each other's quills, so it could happen.
