Hibernation or just a normal baby? - 2008/04/11 22:34 My little one has been sleeping most of the night. Normally she is a runner and is always running around exploring but she has been sleeping for the last three hours. We did have her out playing for a while so maybe we just tired her out. How can you tell the difference between a hibernation attempt and just a normal sleepy hedgie baby? Becky

Re:Hibernation or just a normal baby? - 2008/04/11 23:45 Babies sleep a lot, so if you had her out playing earlier, then she's most probably just tired.

If a hedgehog is going into false hibernation, the belly and legs will feel cool to the touch. The hedgehog will move and react slower then normal, and may wobble like a drunk when walking. You will know it when you see it.

Re:Hibernation or just a normal baby? - 2008/04/12 07:58 I agree with Kelly, it probably isn't, just the baby sleeping.

Tweetle tried to hibernate one time and it was because our power went out. He was really cool and was very calm, so you will know when she's trying to hibernate.
