littlelump - 2008/04/01 17:45 my hedgi has a little lump near her eye. its doesn't seem to bother her. and she acts the same. i just noticed it today. yesterday i was playing with her and a piece of chckn that i was holding fell on the same spot and when i tried to get it she reached out her paw like she was going to scratch me. so i just let it fall out on its own and it did. is there a connection between that and the little lump that i just noticed.

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/01 20:14 It is doubtful that the chicken actually caused a bump, but it is possible that she somehow scratched herself, or otherwise got a booboo. Can you post pictures of it? Without seeing it, I can't make any very educated guesses, but my first thought is watch it for a couple of days, and if it gets worse or otherwise doesn't get better, I would take her to a vet and see what your vet thinks.

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/02 18:04 i cant take a picture yet but the lump is getting bigger. what should i do? the vets here(phil) for exotics are very few. and i don't know if the available vets for exotics are good or not.help. im so worried everything seems to happen to my hedgi, from falling to ivermectin and now this strange lump.

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/03 06:39 A lot vets that will see rabbits, ferrets etc will see hedgehogs. If you are not happy with your vet, you may want to make some phone calls and find another one. If the lump is growing you want to get to a vet as soon as you can. Sorry that all this is happening to your hedgehog Ann

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/03 17:45 thanks for all those who replied. ill bring her later to the vet. unfortunately there are only 4 places who will treat hedgehogs.so il try the one in makati later. it's growing and for some weird reason she has a super small cut on her paw. i think she got hurt from her cage.she keeps trying to get out. i hope shes okay

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/03 20:50 I'm really sorry about your hedgie, I know how you feel when you think that everything is happening to you... My cousin is handicapped and was just diagnosed with cancer... a double wammy, huh?

I hope your hedgie heals fine and that you find a vet that both you and your hedgie like, I'm rooting for you.

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/17 18:11 I am sorry that I cannot help; your picture is nice and clear so hopefully some experts can give you some advice. And I am sorry that you have been having so many issues with your dear hedgie.

My only suggestion is that Philadelphia is not too far from the Baltimore area; I dont know if Stasi has a vet near her that specializes in hedgehogs (I am assuming she must) but it may be worth taking a road trip to an experienced vet if you feel like your vet is not experienced. My vet in Northern Virginia is experienced with hedgies but I think Maryland is closer.

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/19 12:50 It could be any number of things. Where she is young I doubt that it would be cancerous but it is a possibility. I would bring your hedgie back to the vet especially where it is growing. Good luck I hope your little one is better soon. Julie Pierce

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/20 02:14 shes about 11 months old..the xray result will be released tom. the skin above her nose now has a wound hopefully it wont get infected. i think its from trying to get out of her cage. i have another question, usually when hedgehogs ball up, they are egg shaped right? she was like that before but now im noticing that she doesnt become a perfect eggshape ball anymore. she has a sort of corner.. i dont know why..

Re:littlelump - 2008/04/21 22:54 the vet said her xray showed no problems, but she came bak positive from her fungus test so she just needs to apply cream for 2 wks. hopefully shel b fine after that
