MIA - 2008/04/25 20:13 We came to wake Huffle up tonight and his cage was empty. I know there have been posts before with places people have found their hedgies after escapes, but I can't find those posts. We have searched the entire house (every dark spot, every corner, every little hiding place we could think of). We've checked downstairs and even the basement (even though I can't imagine how he'd have made it down 2 flights of stairs). His wheel isn't dirty from last night and his food & water weren't touched - so he may have been missing for a day. We can't find any sign of him anywhere (I was hoping for a poop trail like a mouse or something, but no luck).
Any advice (and encouragement) would be appreciated!

Re:MIA - 2008/04/25 20:17 Found- safe and scared. He got under the futon in his room and crawled inside Dan's grandma's quilt we had stored under there.
He's with daddy now eating dinner - fully spiked and shaking. I'm afraid he fell off of something to end up down there - are there any signs we should look for in case of some injury?

Re:MIA - 2008/04/25 21:57 I'm glad to hear you found him. Hedgehogs can be real little stinkers. Once they learn how to eascape, they know and will repeat.... so be warned.

I have a girl currently MIA in the hedgie room. It's warm, and the door is closed. I'm sure I will find her running on the floor tonight, so I'm not worried.

Re:MIA - 2008/04/25 22:50 How do hedgies escape? I have mine is a Sterilite tub with half the lid cut off. She never attempts to escape. If you have a metal and plastic cage, I don't really see how a hedgie could get out? ~Erin~

Re:MIA - 2008/04/26 06:09 If they're in a bin, they can climb on igloo, water bottle, and go over the top-usually with a gleam in their eye Babies can sometimes squeeze through the bars of a cage. Ann

They levitate, I swear they do. I have some hedgehogs that are pure magic and can get out of anything. I have a recent group of weanlings that got out of a latched Marchioro cage with some heavy stuff on top of it. They should have been too big to slip through the bars. So I maintain that they are made of pure magic.

I couldn't agree more!!!! My hedgehog can escape from her cage that lock with a very big iron on the second floor, how?!?!

the next she came back after I walked down to my garden. Then she licked my foot and ask for food and her wheel. That's really surprise me, I believe that hedgehog must have a pure magic!!!
