Bonding - 2008/04/29 05:47 Hi! First time hedgehog owner here looking for some advice....
I started bonding with my little 8 week old last Wed night. She only huffed the first night and didn't ball up. She seems comfortable with my daughter and I but suddenly she is a burst of energy! The past few nights she has been running up and down my arms and trying to run off my lap. I just try to contain her by moving my hands so she can run on them. If I try to put her in her snuggle sack, she just gets out to run. She doesn't seem scared, just full of energy. Is this normal? Thanks!

Re:Bonding - 2008/04/29 11:00 Sounds exactly like my baby. He'll cuddle for a few minutes while he's waking up and then he's on the go!

Re:Bonding - 2008/04/29 11:57 If you would like to cuddle with her you can always let her run around in a play area, then when she tires a bit you can cuddle with her!! LORI, SOUTHINGTON, CT

Re:Bonding - 2008/04/30 03:58 Thanks for the posts. She was again her crazy self yesterday, but after reading your posts I feel better that this is more curiousity than just simply running away from me.

Re:Bonding - 2008/04/30 04:13 It does sound like she is just curious, but just one more question. The breeder had told me not to let her run around at all for the first month or she would never want to sit on my lap or cuddle, just run around every time she comes out. It sounds like after she explores she could come and then relax?

Re:Bonding - 2008/04/30 06:57 If you tire her out enough then she will cuddle because she will just be too pooped to keep her eyes open long enough. Peanut actually did that like a little kid. She fell asleep as she was walking! I also find that she doesn't run around like crazy if the light is bright. She just looks for a dark hole to stick her face in and then sleeps until I turn off the light. AND I found that she was really active exploring me when I first got her, but once I was all explored (like after a week or so) she was bored of me and then just sat in my lap. Becky
