I hate the month of April - 2008/04/30 19:17 We lost our beloved Funkhowser on the 14th and 2 days ago our girl Daisy passed away as well. Poor Daisy had been fighting CHF and had been taking daily medications for the past few months. I noticed her breathing was very labored again and that she had developed a mass on her right side. Thus it was no big surprise when she passed away but was yet another of those especially sweet, friendly hedgehogs that made you melt everytime you looked at her little face. She was a real snuggler and again, a very popular hedgehog with the kids because she was so friendly.

Poor little Daisy, we will miss you

Yeah, April was a messed up month. Timmy got diabetes, Ary got ill and I had to lose him, Smokey knocked over the cockroach cage (thankfully they were alright, it just made a mess), my favorite webcomic artist's dad died, and now poor Daisy and Funkhowser . I sympathize with you completely and am sorry you lost your hedgies. I'm very glad April is over.
Pets:
Timmy (M, neutered) and Smokey (F, spayed) the maine coon and something else rescue cats.
Aureus (Unknown) the goldfish.
Pepper (F) and Briar (M) the hissing cockroaches.

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/01 09:34 I am sorry for your losses. I am hoping May is better for you and your family.

If you dont mind my asking, what is CHF? I am not sure I am familiar with this.

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/01 10:01 I thought April was supposed to be a time of new growth and life. I am sorry for all of your losses. It was bad for me too because I lost my grandfather. April really did suck! Becky

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/01 13:23 I just did a bit of research after hearing from Mom that Dad had read an article suggesting that geomagnetic peaks resulted in raised rates of suicide among men, wondering if it was possible that a geomagnetic disturbance could mess with other things as well. I found a couple places that said there had been a minor geomagnetic disturbance in April, perhaps it is possible that changes of that kind can push sick people and animals over the edge? Pets:
Timmy (M, neutered) and Smokey (F, spayed) the maine coon and something else rescue cats.
Aureus (Unknown) the goldfish.
Pepper (F) and Briar (M) the hissing cockroaches.

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/01 22:25 I am not the poster of the message but CHF stands for Congestive Heart Failure. I am a nurse and that is the abbreviation used by medical people.

Oh dear, it sounds like you had a rough month too. Please tell me those cockroaches didnt get out of the cage!!!!!!! YIKES!!!!

And to other, yes, CHF is congestive heart failure it causes labored breathing just like in people and the medications are actually the same as used in people.

I think May will be a good month..Tomorrow is Hedgehogfest and I know its gonna be a blast!

Thanks for all the well wishes

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/02 15:03 Oh, I've never heard of it in English, all I know just "Heart Failure" = "Heart Attack" isn't it is the same???

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/02 16:25 Yep, April does suck. I lost my mom on the 13th. I'm glad April is over, but a few days from now it will be Mother's Day....so hopefully June will be better -- I'm due to give birth to a baby girl the end of June....so I guess things will at least look up then....I'll be less fat and uncomfortable and I'll have a baby in my arms

Sorry for your hedgie losses.....seems there are way too many that passed this month.....

No they didn't thank goodness, if they did Dad wouldn't be very happy (he's not a big fan of cockroaches (after we had an infestation when we lived in Texas) to say the least). One of them was on the floor when I got up to my bedroom, but she didn't get the chance to escape very far or become a kitty snack.

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/02 22:46 Actually a heart attack and heart failure are two very different disease processes. Too complicated to explain here but you can look it up on the internet.

Re:I hate the month of April - 2008/05/07 15:23 I'm sorry to hear about so many losses. I've had my own issues to deal with as well. My boyfriend had to move 100 miles away, and we are hardly going to get the chance to see/ talk to each other. I've also had to move from my home, and all my animals are staying at a friends house for the time being. I only get the chance to see them every other day. Although, I know that cannot compare to a beloved family member passing on, it's still rather heartbreaking for me. It seems like April was a tough month for everyone. Thankfully it's over and we can look forward to good things to come! Lisa
