Hi, I'm new - 2008/05/06 11:30 Hi all, I'v been reading this forum for a couple of days and think you guys are super I just hot my first hedgehog on Sun. and have so much to learn. I ordered a book that should come any day now and with all the info here I'm sure to learn a lot. All your hedgies look so darn cute! I always wanted a salt and pepper one or something with a mask, but I was in a pet store and there was this little, about 7 or 8 week old albino. Now the red eyes and pink nose arn't my favorite, but I was afraid no one would buy him and a pet store isn't the best place for a baby. So, happy to say "willie" is mine. He seems to be setteling in great, but boy is he active. He unballs easily and he is on the go. From one hand to another he travels. I always thought they were little slow creatures. He fits in well with my two chihuahuas, 6 rabbits, 7 parrotts and my tortoise, daisy. I'm sorry I'm so long winded, but I'm sure I will have many questions as the days go by and I know I'm going to love it here.

Re:Hi, I'm new - 2008/05/06 13:02 Hooray! Welcome! I am also new. And hedgehogs are really fast aren't they! They can really move when they want to. I was also surprised. Becky

Re:Hi, I'm new - 2008/05/06 13:05 Young hedgehogs can be very active like puppies so Willie sounds perfectly normal! Hedgies can be lazy and take long naps but when they feel like it, they can move very quickly. Take heart though, once he's a bit older Willie will slow down a bit. Unless you are dangling a meal worm under his pink little nose! Welcome to the site!

Re:Hi, I'm new - 2008/05/06 20:27 Thanks for all the wonderful words of welcome. I can't believe how quickly I'm starting to love my little willie. While I was at work today, I was actually missing him. He was probably sleeping anyway. Right now, he is merrily running on his wheel. When I was holding him before, I wanted to give him a treat, so I gave him a little piece of Iam's dog food. I couldn't believe how quicky he scooped it up. No one around me owns one of these guys so it is so great to feel normal around people that feel like I do. I remember when my son was 9 he made me a mother's day placque. It read, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, some kids have pets, but we've got a zoo. Some things never change, I guess. Thanks again for the welcome.

Re:Hi, I'm new - 2008/05/07 15:33 Welcome and congrats on the new addition to your very large family! I know what you mean about feeling "normal". It seems like unless you've had a hedgehog bless your life, you have no idea how wonderful these little critters are. I can always find comfort in knowing that at least there are other hedgehog obsessed owners here. And I definitely enjoying sharing the stories that only a hedgehog lover would appreciate! Lisa
