Little miss grumpsalot - 2008/05/07 09:39 Some days Peanut is really tired which = grumpy. Last night she didn't want to play or anything. She just kept trying to find something she could fit under and sleep. On the weekends when I take her to my boyfriend's house without her wheel she is the friendliest little thing and she plays with us and walks all over us. As soon as she goes back in her cage with her wheel all she does is run and then she is super tired until about midnight when I am sleeping. Should I take out her wheel for a few days here and there or is it better to give her more exercise? Becky

Re:Little miss grumpsalot - 2008/05/08 10:13 Well, so far I have gotten three wheels and all three have either broken or fallen apart. So, Spikey does not currently have a wheel and I am looking in to ordering one from the internet. I do put him in a huge play pool and I let him run around for exercise but I know he needs a wheel. So, I dont think alternating between having the wheel and then having him out where he can be active will hurt--but I am not an expert, just a hedgie mommy who has bought three dud wheels.

Having said that, in the evening (around 9pm) I usually get him out and have him on my lap and I am in bed watching tv. He usually just hunkers down and stretches out in a hedgie spat. So he is not really playful or active. But in the early morning--he is all over the place. Sometimes in the evening when I go to put him back he starts to get all active So there is no rhyme or reason for his snuggling versus being active.

Re:Little miss grumpsalot - 2008/05/08 12:30 Last night I tried watching TV in the dark and she was a lot more active. She really seems to hate the light. Except that at my boyfriend's without the wheel she comes out even in the light. Maybe it has more to do with me being happy when I am not all alone in a dark apartment. Becky
