Noise Question - 2007/09/16 00:07 Hi. My boyfriend and I got our hedgehog Miles back in early May. For the most part he seems comfortable around people and noises. Except for one thing... When we take him out of his cage, and have him sitting with us the second he hears one of our joints crack (like cracking knuckles or the creak from moving your ankles/toes after they've been sitting too long) he will ball up and huff. This seems to be the only sound to really bother him and it's not associated with anything bad ever happening to him that we can tell. Does anyone else's hedgehog seem to hate joint cracking noises? Or are there any other specific noises that seem to bother your hedgehog? Just curious... thanks!

Re:Noise Question - 2007/09/16 14:09 Baron hates the sound of my knitting needles clicking together - he can be perfectly fine with the loud traffic outside of my apartment, or even my cat meowing and pawing at his cage, but as soon as I pick up my metal needles he kinda huffs everytime they click

so I tend to knit when he's not around.

i try to stay quiet, but i am both a horrible klutz, which means i drop stuff a lot, and its also very hard to hold in a cough >.<

Re:Noise Question - 2007/09/16 14:57 P-k hates the sound of the vacuum cleaner. Anticipating she was going to freak at the rug shampooer, I moved her cage into the bedroom away from the main room that was being done.

Re:Noise Question - 2007/09/16 15:42 Sudden sharp type sounds scare some of my hedgies. It all depends on who is out. Some of them couldn't care less, others are more apt to ball up. Each hedgie has their own noise tollerance level. I'd say that if that's the only noise that scares your little fella, he's a pretty amiable guy! Helen

Re:Noise Question - 2007/09/16 19:54 Ava doesn't like "kissy" noises. She is fine with pretty much everything but if you're holding her and you make kissy noises to the dog to come over she balls right up! Ava's mom!
