Pog not eating... - 2008/03/23 12:45 I don't think Bea's touched her food or water since shes been home...I don't think that's normal behavior at all either. I'm feeding her the same thing Laura was feeding her so I know she likes it...she just doesn't seem all that interested in it. I'm worried...but I know she's playing (wheel was quite messy this morning) and she's sleeping like a little angle right now...Why isn't she eating? Mommy loves...

Re:Pog not eating... - 2008/03/23 14:07 hi baby beatrix, Sometimes when hogs are moved to a new environment they go off their food for a bit. sounds like she had a very long trip when you got her. am sure its nothing to worry about. As long as she's happy and has been running a lot she'll come round soon.

Don't worry. just make sure she eats in the next 24 hours.

Re:Pog not eating... - 2008/03/23 15:37 I agree with jade. I didn't have that problem with Tweetle but I've read from a number of places that sometimes hedgehogs wont eat for a while after they get home. Your trip was long so wait a while longer. You have the same condition I had the first couple days I had Tweetle: Worry-a-tism... It should pass just like Bea not eating! No need to worry! **Mommy of Tweetle the hedgehog!**

Re:Pog not eating... - 2008/03/23 19:50 Yup, it is very common and actually expected that they will be off their feed for a few days with a new change in environment. Its nothing to worry about she will start eating when she feels comfortable and safe. Another thing to mention just in case it happens so you dont get upset, is that they often have "funny looking" poops on their arrival to a new home. The stress that they feel regarding the change in environment is exhibited in weird green poops. So if that happens dont worry it will clear itself up in a few days. Julie Pierce

Re:Pog not eating... - 2008/03/23 23:48 Beatrix is fine, I assure you.

I got Harley back in December and he didn't miss a day of his food. But every hedgehog I've had before him did. They didn't eat the first day, not even one meal worm. So just relax. Beatrix is settling in and soon enough you will be back on this forum asking, Is my hedgehog too chubby?
