water - 2006/11/18 15:40 It's been suggested I give my new hedgie bottled water. My water comes from a municipal supply, we filter our drinking and coffee water through a Britta purely for taste. I've also been told that bottled water has an 'acceptable' level of arsenic. Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Re:water - 2006/11/18 20:46 Your regular tap water is fine. Annual water tests are never a bad idea, esp if you have a well.

Re:water - 2006/11/19 18:54 I think leaving water over night to allow chlorine to evaporate is never a bad idea.

Re:water - 2006/11/20 21:06 Can you run the hedgehog water through the Brita as well? I have heard many times that bottled water really isn't that much better (and in some cases worse) than good quality tap water.
That being said... I am definately with Kelly about the water testing. I lost a LOT of animals a few years ago to zinc poisoning due to issues with water pipes.

Re:water - 2006/11/21 02:26 We are on a well here and don't drink our water so I don't give it to the hedgies either. I use the drinking water from Zephyr Hills, nor purified just spring water and have not had a problem with the boys yet. The purified water smelled to chemical and I won't drink it so I don't give it to my boys either. Cyn and Hedgie Boys
