How Much Food??? - 2007/05/17 22:20 Hello everyone! I have a quick question. I was wondering how much food I should be giving digit. Right now I am giving her about a tablespoon and a half a night. The only problem is that she eats all of her food within 2-3 hours of waking up. I also give her 1-2 crickets and a few pieces of eggs a night. I was just wondering if I should give her more of her food mix. I do not want to feed her too much food but I don't want to be starving her either! Any opinions here would be great! http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=106956777

Re:How Much Food??? - 2007/05/18 03:08 General practice (I think) is to just put a small dish of food out and let them eat what they like. I do that with Kumquat-- he usually eats about 1/3 to 1/2 of the dish per night, and has maintained a healthy weight over the past two years. I think this is okay as long as you don't notice them getting hefty-- just like people, they should (haha) stop eating when they're full, and if the mix is healthy it should be fine!

Re:How Much Food??? - 2007/05/18 05:50 You want them to have more food than you think they will eat in their dish so that they are getting enough food, especially with a young hedgehog who is still developing. I free feed my hedgehogs so that they have food available at all times. Ann
