Cold mealworms - starting a colony - 2008/02/29 12:33 I just bought 1000 mealworms from nyworms, and reading on here (http://home.midsouth.rr.com/conservewildlife/mealworms.htm) it says that it will take forever for them to turn into beetles when they were chilled and re-warmed. Does anyone have experience ordering them in the colder months and trying to start a colony?

Re:Cold mealworms - starting a colony - 2008/03/01 08:19 They're insects so they reproduce pretty readily.

If you have 1000, I would feed the smaller ones to the hedgies, leave the larger ones to reproduce in the worm farm, and make sure the farm has plenty of food like carrot that they really like so they will eat more and grow faster.
