How Much?? - 2008/03/12 12:00 Okay here goes, things are going relatively well with little Hazel, now I have yet another question:

When I am giving her treats, how much is too much? for example I give her little pieces of chicken(smaller than a pea, tiny!!) and I give her maybe three of them but then she looks for more. Small canned (not freeze dried) crickets, maybe two. And fruit or veggies I give her tiny peices again, but only a couple. And small live mealworms only two ,maybe three. and I never mix any treats with other treats.

I'd like to give her more chicken and fruit but I don't want to give her too much, I know she needs to have her regular food. Also I don't want the canned crickets to go bad before she's finished even half the can. (how I would know they are bad is beyond me!!)

Is it okay to give her something for a treat every day?

Once again, I'm depending on you experts. Thanks ahead of time!!

Re:How Much?? - 2008/03/12 14:16 I'm no expert, but I will tell you what I do!

My mom cooked some chicken last night and Tweetle was going crzy because he could smell it!

I give him 2 pea-sized peices and that was it, even though he was looking for more. The thing is, Hedgehogs can get fat pretty easily, and I'm not sure but if they get too used to you giving them a lot of treats every day then they will keep wanting more and getting plumpier!

So anyways, that is my thought on the subject. I jest gave Tweetle a peice of his chicken, and I will probably give him one later if he uses his litter box. Thats another thing, if you are litter training or something like that, maybe save your treats for the day for something rewarding! Just an idea!

Hope this helped!
