how do i know (breeders) - 2008/05/01 06:59 i put my two hedgie together on april 20th for 3 days. is there any signs i can look for to tell if she's pregnant yet??

I'm very impatient and want to know. i've been weighing her but its about the same, she runs so much on her wheel that i don't think it would be possible for her to put on weight yet.

Is she safe to use the wheel if she is pregnant?

Re:how do i know (breeders) - 2008/05/01 15:15 yeah, she's safe but you'd better take it out when it's near the 30th days. So you can prevent your hedgehog from moving babies around the wheel.

Umm, I think you did put a house inside right? that's a good idea. anyway, for the sign you should see those 10 breasts if it bigger or not (around 20th day you might see it so clear)

And the way she sleep will be change to ... what word should I say???

Side sleep??? I don't know what word, sorry (T-T).

I cheer you to let it take a bath when you take that wheel out too. So after the the babies come out, you can't take their mother a bath for at least 5 weeks. (her smell will be changed so it may bite babies if it not feel at ease)

Re:how do i know (breeders) - 2008/05/15 06:20 I still don't know.

Allie is now 310grams, when i first put her in with milo she was 281gr so has gained weight.

Question, is this a normal weight gain for a pregnant hoggie? it has been 24 days since their first night together.

She is eating more than she did. i noticed as she never used to finish her dinner and then it started to be licked clean so i increased the ammount i was giving her and now she eats all of that too!

Nipples are not any more noticeable - i don't think. and she still seems quite realxed and happy.

Re:how do i know (breeders) - 2008/05/16 11:49 Weight gain varies from hedgie to hedgie...I've had moms that gained only 10 grams that had HUGE litters, and some that gain 75 grams and have one baby. *shrug* hedgehogs.
Best rule of thumb is to assume she's pregnant. Sometimes you can gently palpate the abdomen and 'feel' the uterine horns swollen with babies, though it's not always doable.
