USDA Breeding LAW? - 2007/04/20 23:21 Hey everyone,
I was reading on another site that you are only require to have a USDA Lic if you have 3 breeding or breedable females? Is this true? I only ask as I am only starting with one breeding pair and will have no others then their babies and why I am more then willing to get Lic was just trying to figure out if that was a main concern right away or not? I'm located in KCMO on the state line between KS and MO. Sorry if this is a silly question but I try to get all my info clearified long before I need to know the answer. Thanks

Re:USDA Breeding LAW? - 2007/04/20 23:42 Yes, it is true. More than 3 females require a license from the USDA. Ann

Re:USDA Breeding LAW? - 2007/04/23 09:36 Please note... this is three breeding females of ANY regulated species... including dogs, cats, rodents (other than mice and rats I believe, but they were debating changing that at one point), and almost all exotics.

Re:USDA Breeding LAW? - 2007/04/29 23:01 Yes in most states the USDA requares a license to breed hedgehogs if you are going to sell or even give them away. Although some states like KS and MO only requard it if you have more the 3 "Breedable" females so even if it is a pair of daughters and a mom that you have with a male you would need a license if you keep any more girls. I hope this helps. Dani Marshall Kansas
