Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/24 01:47 Be prepared for some STINKY little critters! Although very cute, I had to get rid of mine because she smelled so bad. Their urine in potent. Mine bit too often drawing blood, so be careful!

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/25 13:43 That's really awesome!
Sugar gliders are so adorable!
I really wanna get one some day... But that day probably won't be for a while, especially since I'm concentrating on getting a hedgie right now!

Do you think it will be hard to take care of a hedgie and a sugar glider at the same time? That's what I'd be afraid of if I had both of them.

Aww really? That's sad. The places I read about them said they don't have a really bad smell and it's not that strong. But, if you do smell it its kind of "fruity" or something lol.
What did you do with yours?
Anyways, they can't smell as bad as ferrets
If I could handle them, I can handle anything.

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/25 14:51 Anyone that says sugar gliders don't smell bad are smell blinded by love. They have really potent urine and they scent mark their territory ie. you. They are still adorable tho. Becky

Nope. Not for me at least. BeaBooBear only takes a few minutes to get cleaned up and fed. I spend about an hour with her every evening. And, for the most part, she's pretty low maintainance (best pet I've ever had).

From what I've been reading the Gliders may need a bit more time each day for care. But, I don't mind especially with summer almost here.

The kids sleep while I'm at school. I get home clean up for them and feed them. Do my homework/run errands/dance. Then at night for 1 hour per species while I watch TV before bed they'll have social time.

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/25 22:47 I gave mine to a girl who had a few other ones. I do not agree that ferrets smell worse the gilders. I have had a ferret over 4 years and I do not smell her. I was grossed out everytime I came near the glider cage because of the urine smell. She was cute, but not worth all the problems and smell that came with her. ~Erin~

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/26 09:24 I don't know much about sugar gliders, but from what I do know, I couldn't stand having another pet poop and pee on me all the time. I love my Tweetle, don't get me wrong... but I cannot wait until the day he realizes that going to the bathroom on me and other people is a no-no. He has made quite a few enemies because of that

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/26 10:26 What I really wanted that is like a glider was a flying squirrel. They are sooo cute and there's no smell and they bond to you like gliders do. Unfortunately they are illegal in most parts of the country. So sad Becky

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/04/26 11:43 well, for Thai people, there're 2 type of the glider. one is a pet, another is dangerous animal. (Actually it's the same kind of animal, but since some people didn't care it much, it will bite you and run away - this kind for breeders) Click!!! >>> http://kane123.picturepush.com/

Re:Sugar Gliders - 2008/05/04 14:00 Congrats on yoour babies! A really good site for information is www.sugarglider.net (I hope thats OK to post?)

Also, suggies shouldnt smell too bad. Yes if you have a roomful of them or intatct males it may reek. But generally they shouldnt smell terrible. If they do, its most likely due to diet.
