Hedgehog in Boston, MA - 2007/09/13 21:16
Hi all, A friend contacted me about a hedgehog being given away at his wife's company (someone's child "lost interest"). Apparently this guy has been passed around 4 homes in the past 8 months -- including being returned from a house because he was harassed by a terrier.
I am going to get the hedgie sometime at the end of next week, because I assured them I could find a good home for him (they were going to give him away on craigslist).
All I know right now is that he is a male cinnamon, and I imagine that after all this stress he might have some behavioral problems.
I would like to find a home for the hedgie with someone who has experience with hedgehogs, and will give him a loving, permanent home!!

LMK if you have any trouble finding the little one a permeant home. If needed, I can take him in here until a forever home can be found.
Do you know where he came from. Many breeders have a policy where they will always take in any hedgehog that they sold, and some (including myself) require that the hedgehog come back to them so that they can find it a new home.
I'm here if you need me.

Thanks for the offer, I will definitely keep in touch (though it would be ironic if I ended up giving you this guy, as I got my rescue from you originally, back in February!) I don't have any breeder information -- at this point, I think he's changed hands so many times that it's been lost, but I try to find out as much as I can. I will post a picture when he arrives, and know more about his temperment, hopefully that will get someone excited about adopting!

LOL! How is the little one doing? Are you sure you don't want 2 hedgehogs permanently? Obviously they flock to you.

Hedgehog in Boston, with pictures! - 2007/09/18 21:57
Hi, Randall the hedgie came to my house tonight, he is a super sweet guy, unrolls quickly, and looks to be a pinto in coloration -- I don't know his breeder or age, but there's a (slim) chance I can find out. I would love to give him to someone who already has a few hedgehogs/has experience with keeping them. - orsi

He looks precious! What a handsome guy. How could anyone "lose interest" in him?
Besides... what great parenting skills to teach a kid. If your interest in something living wanes, get rid of him. blarg.

I know.... that is so sad. My parents would have never got rid of a pet if we "lost interest" in it... not that that happened. I love my hedgie so much, I would be so sad if I had to give her up. I don't see how people can just give away their hedgie and not care.

Randall arrived at Pierce's Pogs yesterday and he is great. He had a nice tubby and settled right down to eat a big meal . He seems to be feeling right at home. He will be in quarntine for a couple of weeks to make sure he is 100% and then he will be joining our other "pet" hedgies. Thanks again to Orsi for bringing Randall to me!!!
