Anointing - 2008/04/13 21:50 Sounds like most hedgehogs anoint themselves however mine likes to anoint my daughter. When we take him out in the evenings the minute he gets on my daughters lap he starts to munch on her long hair and then proceeds to slather his spit all over it. He really looks like he enjoys doing so. It is actually pretty funny. And he does it every single time that he is on her lap. She willingly sits there for his abuse. Wonder who runs this show?

Re:Anointing - 2008/04/13 22:01 Funny you should say that. I've heard quite a few people say their hedgehogs like to munch or annoint with hair. My boyfriend's hair is no exception. Apparently Omelette is very fond of it, and makes every attempt to bite it! Lisa

Re:Anointing - 2008/04/13 23:25 Hedgehogs LOVE hair. Someone mentioned on here a while back that their hedgehog bit off a lock of their hair!

I think it's harmless as long as you keep an eye on him. ALSO I have really long thick hair. I noticed Isabel hedgehog was limping and when I picked her up I found she had one strand of my hair wrapped around her back leg cutting off her circulation. So use caution if you are prone to wild and stupid things like I am

Yeah, the lock of hair was mine. Nipped off by none other than Hazel Huffandpuff the Hairbiting Hedgehog!

Re:Anointing - 2008/04/14 10:56 I did not think of the hair getting caught on their feet. Thanks for the "heads up". Luckily my daughter has plenty of hair so if he whacks off a bit I don't think it would get noticed. I on the other hand do not have hair to spare...
