Re:litters? - 2007/10/25 19:37 I know that the superpet small animal litter is not made of clay but acts just like it and I think it's non-toxic and safe for hedgies. I used it until I realized Quent was too big for his litter box and I never got him a bigger one. Jessica

My critter list: Dilbert (welsh terrier), Bowser R.I.P. (betta fish), Quentin (hedgehog).

Re:litters? - 2007/10/25 19:54 Litter training is tough and not all hedgies take to it. Put the litter tray under the running wheel and you can line it with just a paper towel. The thought being running on the wheel is when they do most of their "stuff" so it will end up somewhat on in the litter box and they will associate the box with doing their thing. Clay litters, corn cob, small animal pelleted litter can get lodged in the penile sheath in boys and cause really bad infections...it can get stuck in the girls as well so my advice is to stay clear of it.

I found it just as easy to spot clean the cage with a small scoop daily as it was to clean the litter box..but it may work for you.

Good luck
