bald spots - 2007/12/19 13:30 hello everyone! i am new to hedgehog world. i have had my first hedgehog for about 7 months. i believe he already went through quilling. lately, i have noticed that he has a little bald spot on the top of his head. the quills on the side of it cover the spot, but if you move them to the side, it is bare. i contacted his vet, and he said just to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesnt get any larger. i was just wondering if any of your hedgehogs have bald spots or if this is something that i need to be worried about. Thanks for your help.

Re:bald spots - 2007/12/19 14:06 That may just be the reverse mohawk that all hedgehogs have. Is it like a line of no quills down the middle of his forehead? Otherwise if it is more spotty it may be a sign of mites. Jessica

Re:bald spots - 2007/12/19 16:36 Yup, that is a reverse mohawk! It is completely normal and all of them have it! You should be concerned if your hedgie loses quills on other parts of its body though. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=106956777
