Hemp bedding - 2005/09/20 20:36I have had bashful for 5 and half months, and I have recently started using hemp betting. It seems to be working quite well, no dust, she can eat it, which has greatly improved her digestion and seem to make are a happier hedgehog. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything bad about this product? It is called lifemate hemp betting for small animals. I have found this product on line. But I can only find it in Wal-Mart.

Re:Hemp bedding - 2005/09/23 20:50I've never heard of using hemp bedding, but now I am very curious. I going to see if I can track some down and try it.Kelly Sosik-Hamor Hamor Hollow Hedgehogs - a New Hampshire breeder, serving Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and any where else hedgehogs are legal. | Do you want to buy a baby Hedgehog? Re:Hemp bedding - 2005/10/23 10:08Would it be possible to post a picture of it? Our local walmart doesn't carry anything I can use for bedding, and it would be nice to see if they could order some to see how it works for my kids!

Re:Hemp bedding - 2005/10/23 13:58Walmart won't order stuff for anyone. I tried to get the 116qt bins once and they told me that the computer does their ordering and they can't do special orders. *Humph!*Kelly Sosik-Hamor Hamor Hollow Hedgehogs - a New Hampshire breeder, serving Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey and any where else hedgehogs are legal. | Do you want to buy a baby Hedgehog? That's what it looks like. I know it's a fuzzy pic, but we don't currently have a digital camera, so I can't snap off a shot for you right away. I can scan it in later though!

Re:Hemp bedding - 2005/10/25 16:44That sounds really excellent, I have a couple of hedgies who might prefer it to shavings. I have tried carefresh, but the smell makes me ill, so a new option would be great.www.hedgeboken.com

Re:Hemp bedding - 2005/10/27 22:17Hmm, I'll have to look for that. Wonder if they carry it in the megasize bags anywhere. We have to get bedding in megabulk quantity. How is it for odor absorbency?

Re:Hemp bedding - 2007/02/19 07:45was reviewing old posts on bedding, I love fleece for my hedgie. My sister wants to get my niece a small cuddly pet like a hamster and I am concerned about smell and stimulating a dormant allergy. Hemp looks interesting, anyone had A LOT of experience with it? Would it be bad for me to switch the carefresh in the poopy corner with hemp?

Re:Hemp bedding - 2007/04/02 16:10I haven't received my hedgie yet, but I decided on LifeMate hemp bedding when I saw it at Meijer. It advertises as a low-dust bedding and having no harmful aromatic oils so I didn't see any harm in trying it out.
I'll let you guys know my experiences with it once I get the little guy!
Here is a picture I found of it on erodent (a very good site for small animal owners, though it doesn't encompass hedgehogs):
