Ball trouble - 2005/09/28 08:27 Dont know if anyone has any ideas but here is my problem. I bought a ball so that timbit can run around the house without getting in trouble. I cant find a wheel for his cage but his cage is really too small for a wheel anyway. So gettting back to my trouble. Timbit poops and pees in the ball eveytime he is in it and the pee gets onto the rug. Anyidea how to stop this from happening. My mom wants to restrict timbit to the kitchen but if i knew this was going to happen and he was restricted to the kitchen i would not have bought the ball.

Re:Ball trouble - 2005/09/28 12:09 Once your hedgehog gets moving, things will move through his or her system. Balls and wheels are prime places to poop. One thing you can try is putting your hedgehog in the sink for a little bath or in the tub to just run around and move things through.

Now about your cage, if it is too small for a wheel it is too small for your hedgehog. Please up size your cage as soon as possible. Hedgehogs need to run and will run 10+ miles per night in the wild. Since your hedgehog has neither a wheel or enough running room, s/he isn't getting enough exercise (even though you have him out in the ball for a little while, it is not enough). A sterilite bin makes a good cage if you get a 90 qt or larger, and it is extremely affordable.

Re:Ball trouble - 2005/09/28 17:43 Right now the cage is 2 feet by 3 feet. I figure it was small by the time you take his bathroom bowl into account. I do not have a lot of money left to spen on getting a bigger cage but i will try my best to find something.

Re:Ball trouble - 2005/09/28 20:15 2'X3' is adequate size and you should be able to fit a wheel. Downsize the bathroom pan or find a pan that will fit under the wheel. A comfort wheel should only run you about $15. If you need any cost saing advice, LMK. Kelly Sosik-Hamor
