My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/13 22:20 I made my first hedgie bag today... the picture is kinda dark but I think you get the idea. It turned out being about 8"x11". The inside is black polar fleece and the outside is a brown/green flannel. All seams are between the two linings and there are no loose or exposed threads. I took advantage of the fact that fleece doesn't unravel, and turned it down over the exposed threads at the top and sealed that all in as well. I also made a 12"x12" blankie and a larger 24"x24" for "nervous" people to hold him/her in on their lap.

Unfortunately I have no hedgehog to test them out with but, keeping my fingers crossed, I might shortly!

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/13 22:55 Wow! That looks really great! Good job!

However I would have advised against the black inside because it can hide discoloured discharge, or blood or something if they end up getting hurt.

But great job :3 you're very talented!

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/13 23:09 Thanks so much! I'm pretty excited about it. Sadly this is how I spent my Saturday night

Your right, I wish I had some lighter colored fleece but this is what I had on hand. I'm glad I figured out how though... now I have an uncontrollable urge to go shopping for fleece!

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/14 10:01 That looks very cozy! I made tons of these out of extra fleece I had... Due to my sad ability at sewing however, they are all one layered and odd shapes and ends... I even have one that looks like a piece of underwear *~*Steph*~*

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/18 14:45 Ok I made an underwear/hedgie bag today. Unfortunately I forgot my camera in the car so I'll have to post the picture later on tonight, after I see Tori Amos at the Orpheum!

AND... NO it's not made out of underwear.
BUT... It's made to LOOK like underwear.

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/18 17:17 What sort of underwear are we talking about?

I now have visions of a hedgehog parading around, wearing a bra and a thong (well we wouldn't want a visible panty line, would we?)!

Re:My first hedgie bag! - 2007/10/18 22:54 OK here it is... remember, it's just for fun.

It's white fleece double lined with bias tape sewn on the front to simulate hemmed edges, leg holes and erm.. other holes. I also used an extra wide strip at the top to seal in all of the seams and whatnot.

Oddly enough, I still do not even have a hedgehog! My roommate is being very particular about which hedgehog we bring home(which is fine). I imagine that once I finally get one I will give it a trial run. After that I bet it wouldn't be too difficult to make a few up, if people were interested that is.

Hedgie underwear bags... only @HHW!
