playpen size - 2008/02/03 20:35 Hi, I'm 14 and have had my hedgie for about a month

I have been trying to give her out of cage time but she always crawls under furniture and i have to pull her out. I read in a forum that a playpen would work, so i was wondering where i could find a relatively cheap one and what a good size would be.
Thanks!

Re:playpen size - 2008/02/04 06:28 Google "small animal exercise pens" and you will find a few. You can also use something like a kids wading pool too. Just know that some hedgies can crawl under or climb over so they are not totally escape proof. Ann

Re:playpen size - 2008/02/04 17:07 You will want to get one of the taller pens, because the hedgehog can get over the short ones rather quickly.

Also try dimming the light when you play with your hedgehog. Offering him a blanket to hide under on your lap might help too. Hedgehogs don't like bright lights or loud noises.

Re:playpen size - 2008/02/11 09:44 Petsmart sells small animal play pens in three different sizes ranging in price from 16.99 to 49.99. i'd say the 39.99 one is a decent size. 198" in diameter. look on the web site and enter "play pen" in the search option. Petco also sells the ferret play pen and that is about 9 sq ft. you can also look into dog play areas. they tend to give more space for less money. Lisa
