Hedgehog urine question - 2007/07/10 06:43 Wasn't sure where to post this - sorry about that

I clean my hedgehog's cage every 2-3 days, this includes cleaning out the litter box and vacuuming the rest, wheel clean, etc. Anyway, her urine is very strong! Plus, while I had her in her little bathtub she urinated and it looked somewhat like pickle juice. Is this common? Should it smell so strongly? Is she dehydrated? Yahoo ID: relativelyaddictive

Re:Hedgehog urine question - 2007/07/10 09:10 It does sound like she's dehydrated. Make sure she has access to water at all times. If you're using a water bottle, make sure it's not clogged and it's actually releasing water when she's drinking. Stasi

Re:Hedgehog urine question - 2007/07/10 09:31 She actually has a dish of water. I make sure it full all the time. I've seen her drink from it before. The water bottle I had just leaked and leaked. Should I be worried about her?

Re:Hedgehog urine question - 2007/07/10 17:19 Are you sure she is drinking from the bowl?? Was she using a bottle at the breeders?? Maybe you can hang the bottle above the bowl to catch any leaks and see if she will drink from the bottle????

Also, dont UTI's cause stinky urine?? You may want to call the vet and see what they have to say. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
