Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 13:16 Is it ok to use a baby shampoo on my hedgie? Do you add the shampoo directly to the water and then let them walk around in it? Will they drink it? ~Erin~

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 13:35 I believe it is all right to use it, just as long as it is the tear less. But don't quote me on it, unless I am right. http://www.freewebs.com/wicket61807/index.htm

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 13:54 I mix a little shampoo in cup of water and pour it on the hedgie and then lightly scrub their quills with a toothbrush, then rinse the hedgie with clear water and the shampoo ends up in the bathwater to clean their underside. The only thing I ever add to bathwater is either a little aveeno oatmeal or several squeezed out vitamin e capsules. And every hedgie gets their own brand new toothbrush when they come to Camp Aunt Joys - no spreading your poopy nails around!

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 15:43 She won't really 'walk around in it' if she's any thing like my hedgies...she'll run around, panic, poop & look for a way out Emily

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 22:12 Baby shampoo is fine. I like to let the hedgie walk around in warm clear water first, then suds up the shampoo on my hands and rub it over hedgie's back and belly. I find that it gets too bubbly if you add it directly to the bath and then you have to worry about it getting in their eyes.

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/05 23:46 Do they not drink the water in the tub that has the shampoo in it? That's what I am concerned about. ~Erin~

Re:Baby shampoo - 2007/08/06 00:17 If she did it once, I doubt she would do it again. Soap doesn't taste that good! http://www.freewebs.com/wicket61807/index.htm
