Re:good food? - 2007/10/26 06:35 That mix may be too rich for your hedgehog. A diet too rich may cause obesity and fatty liver disease.

If it were me I would switch to the Chicken soup light and add Purina kitten chow to help aid digestion and prevent obesity. A lot of the breeders have had really good luck with it as part of the staple diet.

Re:good food? - 2007/10/26 13:52 Add at least half Purina Kitten chow to that or your mix will be too rich. The 'top shelf' stuff sounds nice, but the hedgehogs don't seem to properly break it down.

Re:good food? - 2007/12/07 09:31 I know Purina One is not shaped like an X. Royal Canin Kitten is though . It's weird, but my hedgehogs LOVE that RC Kitten food... The small X shape totally does it for them. I've tried other X foods like CSFTCLS but because it's bigger one of my hedgies won't touch it! Stinker *~*Steph*~*

Purina kitten is a mix of x and round shaped kibble.

The ones that have X shapes in my mix are purina kitten, purina cat and Chicken soup lite.

I've tried other X foods like CSFTCLS but because it's bigger one of my hedgies won't touch it! Stinker
You can break it up in smaller pieces if you think size is an issue

Re:good food? - 2007/12/07 22:18 True, but it's only one of them that won't touch it. Breaking it up sure would be a better idea than tossing it out though wouldn't it? *~*Steph*~*

Re:good food? - 2007/12/08 08:14 I've been using Royal Canin lite and Purina Kitten chow mix here. My girls seem to like it.

Re:good food? - 2007/12/08 14:09 i ask because the X shapped ones are not getting eaten. i'm trying to figure out which food that is because she obviously doesn't like it. she picks out the little round ones and eat all those, but won't touch the X ones. hum.
