bedding - 2007/12/20 14:19 my little guy is used to newspaper. now i have read that you guys dont so much like this. when i went to get him from his mom and dad the owners had newspaper in the bottom of the cages. well it seemed the guys just crawled underneath it, is being the woman that i am i decided to improve on this idea and put the newspaper in the shredder! tadah no he can roam and cover and do what he will. now if he was born to this newspaper lifestyle dont you think if if was gonna harm him it would have done so already? and his parents are about 2 years old so it has not harmed them either. i stay at home so i check his cage and clean out the yucky spots several times a day. i have read the other options and im willing to try them out, but he seems so content to wander around in his newspaper lawn i really hate to take it away from him.

my hedgehog not your hedgehog!

Re:bedding - 2007/12/21 02:49 If you are insisting on using newspaper I would suggest going to the newspaper and asking them for what they call End Rolls they are whats left over after printing its basically like the name states the end of a roll. It has no print or dies it is all natural recycled paper. I can pick up one for about 2 or 3 dollars and it last for a while. I however use it for my daughter who loves to draw or just about anything you might need. I have found several hundred uses for it allthough I don't use it for bedding. Using it for one hedgie you would probly be looking at enough bedding for atleast 6 months depending on how big of a roll u pick up... They come in various sizes and you could probably get them cheaper if you live in a larger town. Just a thought hope this helps!

Re:bedding - 2007/12/21 09:36 That's a great idea for people who use newsprint. One of the bad things about paper is the dyes used. Some of them can be harmful so you need to be careful and make sure they are soy based. Also they dye hedgie bellies grey. Check out Ham's Blog !
