New England Breeders - 2008/01/23 15:10 Okay Kelly, Stasi and any other New England Breeders I am coming to The American Gerbil Society New England Show May 16-17th and need to know if anyone will have hedgies for adoption. Am looking for adult breeding female, new stud and perhaps a baby or two. Would like some new colors currently only have Choc Chip Snowflake, Standards, Brown and Cinnacote adults so far. I am going to be at the Holiday Inn at 9 Northeastern Blvd in Nashus NH.
I will have babies from My Canada Lines with me to exchange if wanted. Is anyone close to there? Thanks-

Re:New England Breeders - 2008/01/24 01:34 No kidding, Nashua, huh? Welcome to my back yard... literally. Nashua is the next town over from me. I'd love to have you come by and check out the kids.

Give me a list of what you are looking for and I can set up some pairs and cross my fingers. I will be breeding for my show in early May (no, not selling at the show, pre-arranged sales only).

Aren't you the breeder who was supposed to get the lemmings? How did that work out?

Can't you come in early for our May 3rd hedgehog show? Ok, so that's way early.

LMK about the babies from your Canada lines. I'd love some new blood!

Re:New England Breeders - 2008/01/24 21:19 Kelly, Stasi and Ann okay am going to answer everyone question in one post:

Kelly,
I would love to come by your place and put a face with all these post as well as see the kids and Go Hedgehog Shopping!!!!

I also really really wish I could make the show but that would cause me to miss three weeks of work and I only work 3 days a week so I can't afford to do that.

I am expecting babies from Midnight (my Dark Choc Pinto was bred to Wishbone-Choc Chip Snowflake both are straight from Canada right before christmas) and in her first litter she had 2 hoglets (1 pinto 1 standard choc) and she is HUGE compared to how she was the first time so keeping fingers crossed that she has a higher number litter this time.

When she gives birth I will let everyone know and will get pictures out. I also just bred Twilight (Algerian Brown) to Wishbone so I will have her babies with me as well. So for those of you wanting straight Canada Lines I will have them to trade.

Also yes I did get the Lemmings and we were having no luck getting them to bred but then I talked to my exotic petstore owner and she said maybe it wasn't warm enough for them so we put a heating pad under their cage and suddenly we are seeing more of them so am keeping our fingers crossed.

If they do have babies I will only be adopting to people with a USDA Lic. so anyone on here who wants them let me know as my USDA person told me that due to the fact that there haven't be any records Steppe Lemmings in the US for the last 15+ years they/she are wanting them under their control which I have no problem with.

Colors that we are after are the extreme darks and the extreme lights major Snowflakes and Pintos (no I don't want a lot. but as I am also trading with Tig and possible Becca I will get back to you with the exact colors...

Stasi,
I can't wait to meet you too

Anna,
If you could come to the show that would be great. I have never been to this show but have been told it is the largest show every (at least the size of the KC Expo if not bigger) and can't wait to go for the first time as there are people who I have been chatting with for 8 years that I have yet to me in person. LOL

I think that is everyone/everything if I missed a question sorry.

Re:New England Breeders - 2008/02/24 11:00 Really? Something is "controlled" in the 'Live Free or Die' state? It can't be true! *pitches fit* no no, say it isn't true!

Re:New England Breeders - 2008/02/25 21:07 yep it is and they were rude as all heck about it too. However Tig came by on Sat and made a tube video of the Steppe Lemmings on her hh tube.com. I believe she had planned to post it sometime soon. Dani Marshall Kansas

Re:New England Breeders & Tig - 2008/03/22 07:40 Thank you we have been waiting on this litter since Jan but she didn't take the first time so we had to try again. I think the hardest thing about being a breeder is waiting for the babies to arrive. Dani Marshall Kansas

Re:New England Breeders & Tig - 2008/03/23 14:44 Hey Everyone,
Well today was cage cleaning day so as Midnight babies are 4 days old I saved her cage for last and I moved her lid only enough that I could scoop out her potty area and as I have learned in the past I placed a handful of mealies in the doorway to the nest box so when the mom got upset about the lid being opened she would find the mealies and then doesn't feel threated. This also makes it so that she gets use to the cage being open and getting mealies which makes it easier to handle the babies as they get older as she will come to the doorway to get mealies when she hears the lid being moved. Well much to my surprise she turned enough and moved to the very front of the nest box( I always leave the lid moved a little so I can peek into the nest book without having to move the lid) which uncovered some babies and I was able to get a picture (I had my camera in my hand just in case) and I saw 4 babies!!! Yea MIDNIGHT!!!! (she only had two babies in her first litter)
