How old is too old? - 2008/02/11 04:20 How old is too old for kitten chow? At what age should I start the slow switch to something else more made for an adult hedgehog?

Mine is only just about 7 months right now. She doesn't eat anything but the kitten chow the pet store I got her from was feeding her. She won't touch mealworms or anything, but I simply thought it was because she was still young. Should I switch her to something more suited for an adult now? Should I wait a few more months?

Thanks for any help.

Re:How old is too old? - 2008/02/11 04:26 I feed Purina Kitten Chow as part of my permeant mix, and my hedgehogs do wonderful on it. That said, I would recommend a mix of at least 3 cat foods.

Re:How old is too old? - 2008/02/11 04:30 Would it be safe to start mixing different foods now, or do you think I should wait until she's a few months older?

Re:How old is too old? - 2008/02/11 09:04 Babies here get the same mix as the older hedgehogs. It's definitely better to have a mix, rather than just the kitten food - no matter the age of the hedgehog. Stasi

Re:How old is too old? - 2008/02/11 13:39 I have two kitten foods and one adult food in the mix. I use Purina One Kitten, Iams Kitten and Blue Buffalo healthy adult formula. Guess which one ends up being the uneaten one? What a spoiled spike. Jessica

it depend on how you keep your kitten food. if you let the air flow to the food, not over 3-5 days. And yes, it may cause your hedgehogs green poopz.

Mixing food is a Gr8 idea!
