Re:olive oil bath? - 2008/02/14 23:19I've found that putting olive oil in the water makes the sink slippery and seems to be hard on the hedgehog. I used to buy vitamin E but now after the bath I pour a bit of olive oil in one hand, then I rub my hands together and then run my hands over the hedgehog. It works great! Harley has wonderful skin and rarely scratches. Also his quills are extra shiny.

Re:olive oil bath? - 2008/02/15 11:36I've put it in the bath water and it worked just fine. I didn't find it was hard on my hedgehogs at all.*~*Steph*~* Cotton, Noodles & Cocoa (hedgehogs), Kuruku & Kimiko (kittens), Sushi & Lily (Ryukin Goldfish), Rosy & Ruby (beagle sisters), Aries & Artemis (fancy guppies), Archie & Rocky (African Dwarf Frogs), and Squiggles (Blue Mystery Snail)

Re:olive oil bath? - 2008/02/15 13:04I use olive oil here quite a bit - both for cooking, AND bathing hedgies! The only issue I've had with it is sometimes (if it's the heavier extra virgin, etc) it can stain the fur a yellowish color. No problem, as long as you're aware that's all it is!Stasi Terrapin Hedgehogs Joppa, MD www.terrapinhedgehogs.com

Ha ha!
Putting it in the water turns my sink into a slip & slide! It probably has something to do with my sink, and I hate cleaning it out after the bath.
