well i've been lurking around this forum forever, and finally decided to post a bit, so here are some pics of my new hedgie (got her on the 10th (what bad weather it was driving home that day...) from kelly at hamor!). her name is freya!

here are some uber dark photos of her (my first ones, i was afraid to scare her with flash):



and i had a party this past weekend and a lot of my friends showed up to see her. one of my friends sent some pics of me with her that i think she looks really cute in:



she was really well behaved at the party, despite all the new smells, sounds, and people. she's been on and off huffy, but i still play with her at least once or twice a day. she's both a runner and a cuddler i think - if i hold her in my hands she'll try squirming and will run when i put her down. but if i hold her inside her blanket, she'll nearly always snuggle up and fall asleep.

also - i think she must be the only hedgehog that doesnt like tp tubes! although i supply them (and foam ones) i've never seen her play with them!

Oh, and mine don't like tubes either....at least most of the time. One time I did find one *trying* to sleep in it....aka stick her head in and hope it would make it darker. lol.

aww... maybe none of the hamor girls like tp tubes? O_o

and no, i did not get my inspiration from freya from ffix although all my friends seem to think so! i like that freya as well, but it was really just from the norse mythology and the various sagas. plus i just like the name freya anyway!

well last night i hid a piece of food inside the tp tube and she did stick her head in, but didnt seem to like it much. she walked around with the tube on her head for a little bit and it was hilarious though!!

oh and a quick question - are hedgies supposed to run in wheels like hamsters? just that i noticed freya runs inside the wheel for 2-6 seconds (10 tops) and stops quite frequently. i remember when i had hamsters, they would run nearly non stop for a while. just wondering if this is natural or not.

Well, wherever you got the name -- I like it I will always think of Freya from FF though!!!

If I leave him alone with them for a decent amount of time I'll find chew marks all over them, so maybe he's just shy. Also.. when he first started running on his wheel he did the same thing. I think he didn't know how to keep up with it and thought he would fall off. Check out Ham's Blog !

I can't imagine her snubbing her nose at them Ava's mom!
