my hh. not eat cat food . - 2008/02/23 09:53
when she pregnant she ate cat food a lot.But when she already has 5 babies,she didn't eat it anymore.So I bought new logo cat food but she ate a little.Now she only eats chicken,pork,shrimp everything that not cat food.I give her fried and boiled chicken ,pork,shrimp.I gave her some bird warms 1 time and give up because I pity warms.
I'd like to ask you ---is it danjerous to give her food like this.But I'm worry because she doesn't eat cat food anymore although she was so hungry!!!
I bought holistic food for her but she ate a little and no longer eat it (holistic food in my country very expensive)

Sounds like she got spoiled with the turkey and shrimp 
The breeders on here will give some suggestions I'm sure.
Does she still have babies? How long did you wait to see if she would get hungry enough to eat the cat food before giving her the turkey and shrimp?

Don't feed any fried foods to you hedgie. It will make her sick. Have you tried feeding her kitten food? How about you try crushing her food up. When she has young babies, she will not come out to eat often, but as the babies get older, she'll come out more and more. How old are the babies now?

Thank you so much for your reply.
I give Dum(her name-mean black color) holistic 10 pills at night and in the morning every pills not lost.She only drank water. And she hungry so much because when I give meat to her ,she eats a lot and fast.
Now her babies almost 1 month.
The last night I gave her shrimp ,she ate a lot but in the morning she got liquid shit and Kao(her husband-mean white color in my lang) got vomid.So I promise not give shrimp to them anymore.
Kao doesn't have problem because he eat cat food and meat.But Dum only eats meat not cat food.I want her eat cat food mix with meat.I ground the cat food to them because Kao got broken theeth from cat food.
(I feed &love my hh. like my member of my family)
I think Dum is spoiled hh.,now she call me for take her go outside her cage,this time is 10 am. in the morning.Her babies already sleep.
I try not give fried food to them anymore,it's not good for their health.

Wait, you you have the male in with your female and her babies? If so, you need to take him out and keep in separate from her. Ok, I who continue to crush the food and offer it. I would then take some cooked chick(or other healthy meat) and chop it up real fine(or put it in a blender) so that it can coat the food. I'm sure the more experienced breeders will be on soon to answer your questions for you better.

I think it sounds like the male and female are NOT in the same enclosure, Prickles and Quills. Just that they both ate shrimp the same day.
What about making a mash like the breeders feed to the babies? I would ask the breeders whats in it but they grind up the cat food and add ferretvite(high calorie vitamin) and stuff. Maybe she'll like that.

If someone keeps giving me lobster and steak, I'm not going to settle for sandwiches when they try to give me those.
Basically, if she only has the cat food, she will eat it, but if she knows you are going to give her something better then she's going to hold out.

Last night I left 6 pill of holistic cat food for Dum.But in the morning 6 pills not lost..... She not eat although she hungry all night
Then, my sister gave her bird worms she eats them.
She doesn't eat cat food anymore???

At this point I would give her lean cooked chicken, beef and whatever vegtaables she'll eat like peas and such. I understand why you want her back on normal foods but as long as she is nursing babies now isn't the time to fuss with her over food. Once the babies are ready to wean make the cat food avilable to them but right now do whatever it takes to keep her eatting.
