Bea's new home - 2008/03/07 16:11 So...In officially 2 weeks I am going up to Kansas to get my baby girl . I took some pictures of the home she's got to look forward to. She will live in a 28x42'' cage made out of those cube-y, wire-y grid things. Far left corner- Silent Spinner Wheel, Front left corner- litter box, Front right corner- food dish and water bottle, Far right corner- soft cat bed with her purple sleeping bag inside. There are some ferret toys and a TP tube in the middle for her to play with. My daddy built a little platform to place the cage on with a tile surface for easy cleaning and there's a soft blanket for her flooring.
Here are some pictures :
Mommy loves...
Beatrix the pog,
Lizard the Water Dragon,
Graci the Shih Tzu,
And Uncle Buster the West Highland White...

FINALLY I figured it out.
The little one at the top is a travel cage made from left over grids and tiles.

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/03/07 20:49 That really is awesome!

I kind of wish I could time travel back to when I was buying hedgie stuff and got a bigger cage! Ah well, Bea will love it!

Tweetle wants to have a play date, and then kick Beatrix out and steal his cage, I can just tell!

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/03/07 21:29 It looks great!

(i would suggest putting something under the silent spinner to catch the pee and poop... it can get pretty gross! and will save you from having to clean the liner as often)

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/03/07 22:31 I don't know what your liner is made out of ( it looks kinda soft) But I would suggest extending the metal part of the cage to the floor too. I would then put a piece of plastic for the floor with the liner over that. You would be surprised how hedgies can be escape artists! I would also suggest that if you are getting a baby hedgie to put pieces of screen over the lower part of the bars of the cage. When my hedgie was a baby she could fit through the bars! (You can take it off later when she is a little bigger and can't fit through anymore.) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=106956777

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/03/08 11:23 Ava escaped when she was a baby several times (we have the same squares as you) and we have the plastic sides about 14 inches high!... They are a lot more clever than their darling little faces would lead you to believe Ava's mom!

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/03/08 14:49 I just had Daddy saw some left over grids in half and then I attached them all the way around the lower part of her cage with those zip-tie things. They closed up the little spaces pretty well. That should work...right? I hope she's not a climber... Mommy loves...

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/06/23 20:02 I was just wondering how your set up is working out now that Bea is home? I was mostly interested in how you clean your liner because it looks kind of hard to remove!!

Re:Bea's new home - 2008/06/23 20:30 That looks like a pretty snazzy cage you've got going there! Looks super cozy, what a lucky little pog.

Will the little girl... or guy be able to reach the wheel?
I'LL BE BACK ON JULY 19th!
