I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/03/29 13:36 So this weekend I think I'm going over to Petsmart... and I'm going to get a playpen for Tweetle because he desperately needs one!

I have been saving up some money and I have some extra money for some stuff... any accesories or extra little things that your hedgies like to play with? Tweetle uses his tp tubes and wheel... he doesn't like balls though...

Any suggestions of cage accesories, toys, treats (not mealies, i've tried), or anything else that you like that you got at petsmart... Tell me!

Any and all ideas welcome!

Oh and also, when you guys have your playpens out what do you put under them so that poo and pee don't get all over the floor?

Thanks!
~Felicia

ferret trail tubes are great for hedgies. or any tube like things, for that matter...

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/03/29 20:43 yeah, they would probably like that. my hedgers like the bubble tubes and the dryer type hoses. but I'm not sure which of those things petsmart carries.

Bubbletubes: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/602-6032983-5911833?ASIN=B0002DJGSW&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B0002DJGSW|FerreTrail_Bubble_Play_Kit&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B0002DJGSW&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/03/29 22:59 I have a playpen for Pickles. I put a piece of shower curtin liner under it. I would also suggest puppy training pads. They are absorbant and you can just toss them when you are through. Good luck! ~Erin~

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/03/30 13:11 I just recently made a play pen for Omelette. I used the left over grids (the ones used to make a C & C cage) tied them together with cable ties, and viola! Instant playpen that is larger than any sold at a pet store, and only $15! I just fold a fleece blanket and put it on the bottom. I got the fleece from the fabric store half price since it was a remnant. I know I'm frugal! As for accessories, you could try homemade craft foam tubes. The foam is only about 60 cents, they come in different colors, and you can make them in different sizes. Lisa

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/03/30 13:18 My little Dingo loves to play with cat balls with bells inside. If there's no bell, it's cast aside as useless. I also found a small plush crinkle mouse that he just adores! He drags it around his cage with him. Over to the food bowl, to the water bottle and back in his hedgebag. It's his little buddy.

Anyway, I buy Dingo any cat toys, the balls, plush animals. Anything that can be moved around or makes noise seems to result in hours of fun.

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/04/04 03:00 Went looking for pet play areas a while ago. most of them were very large, metal, or expensive. They ranged from 50 to 80 dollars. I even went to babies R us to look at play areas for babies. Decided to go with the 5.99 plastic baby pool. It's a bit smaller then i wanted but it's so much less expensive.

Re:I'm getting some stuff! - 2008/04/06 19:09 It's a little late now but anyways...

Ham loves his "Chube". It's like a cardboard type tube made from edible plant based material. Hedgehogs most likely won't eat it (he doesn't) and if they pee or poo on it, it will need to be replaced. That being said... he never dirties his and he loves it! He won't use a PVC pipe for some reason either. I just make sure I check it every couple days and know to replace it when it gets dirty. It's the perfect length for me to leave in his cage.
