Hedgie poo in the strangest of places - 2008/04/04 03:53
So, I thought we could have a good time telling tales. The point of this post is to let all of us hedgie fanatics tell stories aboout the strang and unusual places our hedgies have deemed as out houses. I think the stranges place i have found one was on top of her wheel. I have no idea how she pulled that one off.

OR... maybe it stuck to the bottom and then she wheeled and it ended up on the top!!
I'd have to say mine was on the mealworm that I tried to give him... shows how much he doesn't like them!! Lol!

My favorite location was in her food dish. She did it only once, and I'm fairly certain it was in protest. After a hearty night of wheeling and eating, the only kibble that was left in her dish was this one brand that she doesn't particularly care for. She started off eating it just fine, but within about 1-2 weeks, I found that she only ate the kibbles around it. I was curious to see if she'd eat it if it was the only kibble left in her dish. That' when she shared her thoughts: mommy's idea was ****!

LOL! I think the weirdest place was probably on the wall of her cage. The walls of her cage are about 6 inches high. So somehow she managed to wedge herself behind her wheel and poop on the wall.

LOL... She pooped in Carlo's pocket the other day. She was on his shoulder and just turned around and pooped. Both carlo and I watched it fall perfectly into his shirt pocket and died laughing! The best part was she turned back around and looked at us like "What?"

When Cotton was a baby, she liked sleeping in Don's shirt pockets. But then sometimes she'd poke her face out and look at us. Then we smelled it.
I think the weirdest place I've ever found hedgie poo was on the top of the side of the cage- not sure how that happened, because it wasn't smeared, it was a full on terd sitting atop the wall.

Isabel (she passed on last September) was litter box trained and had been for four years at this point. I took her with me to see my Mom (who has a full hedgehog cage she puts out when I visit).
Iz was running around mom's floor having a blast. Mom has a mahogany silverware box, that she has filled with river rock and it sets next the fireplace. But this day it was hidden behind a table so I couldn't see it. Isabel kept running over to play in it. I wanted to find out why she loved it so much and Mom said not to worry. Iz is a good hedge and she loved watching her have fun so I left her be. We talked and every few minutes I heard the rattle of the rocks when Iz was playing in the box. Isabel was out a good hour before I found out what she was up to...
She found a fancy box with rocks and decided it MUST be a high class litter box. It took me FOREVER to clean that thing out and my GOD was it ever nasty. Mom just laughed. As gross as it was I have to admit, it was neat to get a glimpse in the inner workings of her prickly logic.

...P.S. and of course no eating utensil will ever be stored in THAT box again.

HMMMMM.... This is a hard one. Wow, we hegehoglovers are nuts; here we are talking about where are little angels poop! Alright..... I'd say the most odd place I found poop in was behind a stuffed animal, I swear he was trying to hide it!

When we first brought our girl home we just resigned ourselves to being used as litter boxes... Carlo got the raw end of the deal more than I did
Now, however, Ava rarely poops on us and hardly ever pees anymore. Notice I say rarely and hardly...

Having the hedgehog poop on us spares us of cleaning it in his cage. I DO feel like a litter box. But what amazes me is that such a small animal can pass such LARGE poop. Holy cow!

I have a strange place for you... outside of her cage on the floor next to it. She must have turned her booty in the air and stuck her tail out of the cage. She is so silly!

I love you all for sharing these strange stories. This isn't a topic you can share with all your friends. It just doesn't seem to amuse the non hedgie owners.

I think the funniest place Mace has ever pooed is on the kids I watch from time to time. They have been warned.. and yet one particular boy always seems to get it.
