Hiccups? - 2008/04/05 07:59 I've noticed that, for a while now, after my boy eats he makes a sort of "hiccup" sound. I'm not sure if he as food stuck in his throat or if it is just a hiccup from eating too fast.
He doesn't show any signs of discomfort while 'hiccuping' but, he does go to his water bottle for a drink afterwards. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/09 06:41 There's a post (in daily life I think) that says that hiccup noises are a sign of contentment

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/09 18:03 Well that makes me happy to know! I've noticed if Hazel cuddles up with me , I can feel these little rythmic pulses, like hiccups.I didn't know what they were!! It's nice to know she's feeling content!! Although i haven't heard any noises. LORI, SOUTHINGTON, CT

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/09 19:46 Lori, the same thing happens to me when I hold Tweetle, I've come to get used to it and I never really gave any thought to it. Now that I know it happens to other people, I feel better about it.

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/09 21:25 Are you sure your hedgehogs aren't purring?

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/10 09:20 I guess they could be the hedghog version of a purr, they just seem more hiccupish. I think I just thought a purr would be more like a really teeny tiny motor boat. Kind of.. LORI, SOUTHINGTON, CT

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/10 22:38 when Ava purrs it's like a mini motor. I can't hear her just feel it. Kind of like when your cell is on vibrate in your coat pocket. Ava's mom!

Re:Hiccups? - 2008/04/11 23:22 Sorry I haven't replied, I've been away.

Contentment is a nice sign. What an interesting way to show it.
Dingo "purred" when I took him out this morning so, I'm hoping that he's adjusted quite well and is used to all of the new sights and smells.
