Silica Gel Cat Litter - 2008/03/29 16:24 I was wondering if it's okay to use Silica Gel Cat Litter for my hedgehog's cage. It's anti toxic, I'm wondering if this passes the 'clumping' test. Anyone know of it?

Thanks.

Re:Silica Gel Cat Litter - 2008/04/14 16:10 Yeah I've seen it and was wondering the same thing, I'd like to put something in Lychees to differentiate it from the rest of the cage, although I think litter training him now would be difficult, he thinks his tray is a convinent climbing device to get on top of his house!

Re:Silica Gel Cat Litter - 2008/04/14 16:41 I'm wondering about this too. I use it for my cats so it would be convenient to be able to put it in Wesley's litter box also.

Re:Silica Gel Cat Litter - 2008/04/14 19:02 Fresh step has a silica gel litter and this is what I found-I've never used it so I don't know.

Are Fresh Step® products safe for animals other than cats?

Fresh Step® products are not recommended for use with dogs, rabbits, ferrets or any pets other than cats.

I've heard news reports that say products containing crystalline silica are unsafe. Are Fresh Step® Crystals safe for my cat?

Yes, Fresh Step® Crystals are safe for your cat. Fresh Step® Crystals do not contain crystalline silica within scientific detection limits. Silica gel is a safe substance most commonly used to absorb excess moisture in flowers and food or to protect materials such as leather or computer equipment from humidity.

Re:Silica Gel Cat Litter - 2008/04/14 22:58 Thanks!

Fresh Step is what I have. Looks like it will only be used on the kitties.
