Lost Fingernails - 2008/04/18 19:25 I walked past Dingo's cage this morning and noticed a bit of blood on his bedding and in his food dish. Of course, if panicked and took him out and began inspecting every inch of his little hedgehog body. It turns out, he somehow managed to tear out three of the nails on his front right paw and the other was barely hanging on.

I assume he did it while climbing though, I'm not 100% sure. I gave him a bath to clean out the open "wounds" and tried clipping back the other nail.

Is there anything else I can do for him? He doesn't seem to be in any pain and lets me touch his paw without pulling or flinching.

Re:Lost Fingernails - 2008/04/19 15:13 What else is in his cage? Maybe he was scratching at something and hurt himself.

Re:Lost Fingernails - 2008/04/19 18:45 He has his igloo, blanket, , wheel, a few small toys and his food dishes. I'm not sure what he could have scratched at that would result in tearing out his nails... Dingo's mom

Re:Lost Fingernails - 2008/04/19 20:57 I had a foster bunny that got a nail stuck on the corner of a blanket and he panicked. He ended up pulling the nail right out of the nail bed...blood everywhere. Do you think he could have gotten his nails stuck on his blanket possibly? Julie Pierce
