Re:What is your color preference? - 2007/09/01 13:07 A standard colored hedgie with 1 or more white patches of quills with white skin beneath.

I love all hedgies but really like dark Algerian colors, Pintos, Cinnacots/Browns & Dark Eyed Whites!

Re:What is your color preference? - 2007/09/01 17:06 would someone clarify something I read about two types of hedgies - Agouti and Algerian. Algerian has dark masks and mottling on the underside (and the 'beauty marks' on my pippi's tiny hiney I believe is part of her algerian mottling). Is Agouti used to describe those with pale snouts and light or no masks?

Re:What is your color preference? - 2007/09/02 07:10 Do any breeders on here sell algerians?Your best bet is to ask the individual breeder what they have available at the moment. A lot of breeders do have hedgehogs with algerian markings in different colors.

Is Agouti used to describe those with pale snouts and light or no masks?
Agouti is a type of gene involved in color inheritance, not a color itself.

There are also rodents called agoutis

Re:What is your color preference? - 2007/09/26 01:57 Jessica!! that last pic of the really dark baby is soooo cute!!

for me it's dark colors. the darker the better. i'm not so sure as to what color my Penelope is (and i haven't posted any of her pics yet) but i'm thinking chocolate? grayish brownish whatever color with a dark mask and some dark fur on her feet.

i'd love it if i had a totally dark haired, dark quilled hedgie! like a little ball of.. chocolate?

Algerian Blacks are to die for, though I do love pintos. Hmm, maybe it has something to do with my love for my appaloosa mare

Re:What is your color preference? - 2008/04/20 16:13 I love the darker colors, Algerian Black, Grey, Salt and Pepper. But I have a soft spot for the Cinnicots. I just love Omelette's pink little nose. Lisa
