Weird taste... - 2008/04/24 16:03 Hudson had his first anointing experience today, weirdest thing was it was over his new litter from his litter box (not his bedding)!!! He started nibbling at it and then went right ahead and anointed. Should I be concerned if he's nibbling his litter? He has fragrance free Kaytee soft sorbent... He's such a funny little dude.
I had one more weird question, every time I get him out or hold him my hands get really itchy, nothing else, just where his quills have poked me I start to itch. Anyone know why? or has that happened to anyone else or am I just a weirdo...

Re:Weird taste... - 2008/04/24 16:26 I have read that if you have allergies to something and there are traces of it on your hands, it can be pushed into your skin and will cause an allergic reaction. You may not even know you are allergic to it because it doesn't normally get under your skin where it can cause the reaction. You can try washing your hands really thoroughly or you can try changing the soap you are using in case that is the cause. Or it can be something else entirely of course. I don't get itchy but I also don't have many allergies. You can try taking a benadryl or something too.

Re:Weird taste... - 2008/04/24 16:46 Yes, I got that itchy thing with Aragorn too, I think it got better over time either that or I just got better at ignoring it. I'm not sure what caused it but it definitely was when his quills poked into me. Pets:
Timmy (M, neutered) and Smokey (F, spayed) the maine coon and something else rescue cats.
Aureus (Unknown) the goldfish.
Pepper (F) and Briar (M) the hissing cockroaches.

Re:Weird taste... - 2008/04/25 17:01 You know it's weird because the same thing happened to my sister yesterday. I took Omelette out and one of her quills poked my sister's finger. She told me it started to sting and itch. I told her that's happened to me sometimes. But I couldn't figure out what was causing it, and since it usually went away in a few minutes I haven't really worried to much about it. Lisa
