Stop the madness!! - 2008/04/25 21:48 Tweetle just figured out that he could get under his liner and now he wont stop! It gets really annoying because his food dish always gets knocked over and the whole cage gets messy. Do you guys have any suggestions? I tried putting 2 rocks where I thought he might be able to get under but somehow he still did. Any input would be appreciated.

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/04/26 07:37 You can always use velcro to hold the liner down, though that makes it a little harder to do cleanup. Sometimes providing some extra blankets for the hedgehog to rummage in can help reduce their urge to go under, but sometimes the hedgehog just insists. *grin*

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/04/26 08:20 If he really wants to be under his liner, he'll find a way to do it. I'd just fold back a corner of the liner so you can see the cage bottom and put his food in that space. Or put the food in the corner on top of the liner (like usual), but put the rocks on either side of the food dish.

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/04/26 09:29 Ok thanks for the suggestions!! I am going to try to make a hedgie bag and put it in Tweetle's waffle blocks box and see if that helps. Maybe I can just buy a hedgie bag, I cant sew!!

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/04/26 13:53 I am not a fin of liners, and that would be one of the main reasons. You may have luck if you give him more options of things to hide under.

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/06/21 18:01 It depends, what kind of cage to you have? If its a cage like this: http://www.petco.com/Assets/product_images/8/800443039106c.jpg

then you should add on extensions to the liner and put the top of the cage over some of the fabric, I don't think he could get out that way

I do have a cage like that but I don't think I really get what you're saying... Do you mean like extending the liner and putting it up the walls or something?

Lol I'm clueless...

Yup! I mean like adding about what, 8 inches to each side of the liner to make them hang out of the plastic bottom, then put the metal top of the cage over the fabric so that the top holds the fabric securly down and your hedgehog can't get under!

Re:Stop the madness!! - 2008/06/22 21:24 That's what I started doing! Works like a charm. Or you can try using binder clips to secure the liner to the sides of the cage. Another idea if your liner isn't long enough to hang over the side, you could try using velcro.
