Baby colors - 2008/05/01 16:57 I've read on the hedgehogcentral's color guide that you can't tell a baby's true color until 9 weeks old, but I'm wondering what you can tell when they are still wee babes? Does the nose color stay the same from 2 weeks on....and is the skin color stay the same as they get older (either pink or grey)?

I've also seen babies with pinto-type "racing stripes"....albino stripes down the middle, but I'm curious if they stay...or if they go away as they get older, and start to quill.

I'm a hedgehog color junkie....what can I say

Re:Baby colors - 2008/05/02 12:03 I have had a lot of babies born with the racing stripe but it dissipates after quilling. You can usually get a general idea of coloring fairly early on. Albinos babies are very very pink and quills white from the beginning. Dark babies are dark from the beginning, etc. So basic color groups you can determine early but the more detailed specifications usually have to wait til after quilling and sometimes up to a year.
